Ruestungsschmie.de is an interdisciplinary artistic duo formed by architect and media artist Philip Modest Schambelan and architect and visual artist Michał Banisch. Their work operates at the intersection of architecture, film, projection mapping, and spatial storytelling, exploring how moving images can transform and activate architectural space.
ruestungsschmie.de® combine deep architectural expertise with media art to create site-specific projection mappings and audiovisual installations.
Their creative process begins with thorough spatial and contextual analysis. Using 3D modeling, laser scanning, city maps, and historical research, they approach each building as a holistic system. Light and shadow are central creative tools, used to reveal and amplify the inherent qualities of architecture without introducing extraneous elements.
Sound design plays a crucial role in their work and is developed through an iterative collaboration with sound designers, accounting for more than half of the audiovisual experience.
Through immersive, site-specific experiences, ruestungsschmie.de seeks to transform familiar urban spaces, sharpening perception while respecting the architectural identity of each site.
